The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has berated the Chairman of The Patriots, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, for alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war was aimed at Islamising Nigeria.
Nwabueze had allegedly said the appointment of northerners as heads of major security agencies and other strategic positions was part of the President’s northern agenda.
Reacting, Secretary General of the ACF, Anthony Sani, said Buhari may have his shortcomings but means well in trying to ensure order, justice, liberty, peace and prosperity.
“A Nigerian of Nwabueze’s status must refrain from dwelling on issues that could divide the country,” he said.
Sani noted that in democracy, there was need for opposition but critics must be constructive for the country to move forward.
“I do not believe the respected professor can make such claims, considering the chiefs of defence staff and naval staff are not Muslims,” he added.
