Some militia suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect have hoisted their flag in Luru area of Girei local government area of Adamawa State.
Five people were , reportedly killed in the invasion of the community.
According to sources in the area, 5 persons have been killed included a former Secretary of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP in the area, Mr. John Tika.
The sources added Thursday attack is coming after recent attacks carried out by the militia on Gwamba and Pakobi a neighbouring community in Demsa local government area a borderline with Luru.
According to another source, Nehemiah Ezra, four of the men killed in the attacks died in the course of retaking back the ransacked community, after it fell on Tuesday Night to the militia.
Nehemiah Ezra, said the locals mobilized themselves and tried to retake back the community, which they successfully did with the support of security forces.
“But the Militia relaunched another attack and re-took the area on Thursday, this time John Tika a former State Secretary of the All Nigerian Peoples party (ANPP) was killed along Pakodi in Demsa.”
The attack, according to Lumsambani Dilli, a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, representing Demsa Constituency was carried out by members of the Boko Haram sect, based on reports reaching him.
“The attackers according to him used the phones of one of the victims, while a relation of the victim called the line, the receiver on the other end said that they were Boko Haram and not Fulani herdsmen.”
Prior, to Thursday invasion and hoisting of their flag, the communities which have come under attacks in his constituency are Kodomun, Kwayine, Gwamba, Kopotum, Lawuru, Dong, Wuzoan yashe and now Luru.
The Law maker added that “ The killings is now incessant, our people are being killed, it is getting too much. All over the local government (Demsa, Girei, Numan and Lamurde) left and right. It is kiillings here and there. We are calling for the state governor to intervene to halt these killings”.
He said while bemoaning the insecurity and absence of enough security personnel, he called on Federal government to drafted more security personnel to the areas to forestalling further invasion on these councils.
