A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the claim by Festus Keyamo, the Spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign Council that one does not need a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria. He Said that the matter is now a case of perjury because Buhari has once swore to an affidavit that his qualifications include WAEC.
Keyamo had in an interview on Sunday claimed that under the Nigerian constitution, one does not need a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria.
According to him, if you have occupied the public office for a reasonable length of time, you do not need a WAEC certificate to become president of Nigeria.
Reacting on his official Facebook page, Fani-Kayode wrote: “Buhari may not need a WAEC certificate to contest but once he swore to an affidavit or presented a form indicating that his qualifications include WAEC, it becomes a different matter. Or has he withdrawn his WAEC claim? This is a matter of perjury and not whether he is qualified.”
